Total Body Pregnancy With Idalis Velazquez

Introducing Total Body Pregnancy with Idalis Velazquez — three new total-body workouts for expecting moms, plus one postnatal workout to help new moms get back in shape safely.

The workouts cover each stage of your pregnancy: first trimester, second trimester, third trimester, and postnatal.

Each workout is 25 to 30 minutes long and all you need is a single set of dumbbells, a resistance loop, a chair, and a mat if you’re working out on a hard surface.

Why is it important for expecting and new moms to exercise? 

Keeping your body strong through exercise during pregnancy is one of the best things you can do for your health and the health your baby.  You’ll also feel better and more comfortable and confident in your own body.

What would you tell a new mom who is having trouble getting in shape?

Be patient and be extra kind to yourself. Remember that each woman and her postpartum journey is different. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else or give in to any unrealistic pressure that society can instill in women to “bounce back quickly.”

The most important thing during this period is to nourish your body, add more rest, and follow a sustainable fitness program that fits your lifestyle and helps you strengthen your body. Trust the process and don’t add any extra pressure!

Idalis’ Tips for Expecting and New Moms

1. Your nutrition and lifestyle habits are the most important things for your health and the health of your baby during pregnancy. Focus on all the things you can add to your day that can help you become healthier and more energized.

2. Stay active and remember that pregnancy is a time to tune in to your body. Pregnancy is not an illness, and continuing to stay active and fit will help in many ways during this process.

3. Make time for yourself and for fitness. It’s not selfish and it will help you be a happier and healthier mom for your family. Ask for help when you need it or when you feel overwhelmed.

4. Follow a sustainable fitness program and do your best. You don’t have to work out for an hour a day. Do what you can and be patient. And remember that there are many exercises you can do with your baby that will help you get fit and bond. The important thing is to get (and keep) moving!
