How to count sugar alcohols when following the Ketogenic diet??
If the sugar alcohol listed is Erythritol you can subtract them all from total carbs!
EXAMPLE:
15 Grams Total Carbs
5 Grams Dietary Fiber
10 Grams Sugar Alcohol (Erythritol)
15 – 5 – 10 = 0 NET Carbs
(Total Carbs) Minus (Fiber) Minus (Sugar Alcohol) = Net Carbs
If the net carb is something other then Erythritol it is safe to count half towards your net carbs.
EXAMPLE
20 Total Carbs
5 g Fiber
6 g Sugar Alcohols (other then Erythritol)
NET CARBS = 20 – 5 – 3 = 12 Net Carbs
In this video I break down how this works as well as give examples of other common sugar alcohols as well!
