Free Home Depot Kids Workshop
The next free Kids Workshop at Home Depot will be held on Saturday, October 6, where children will build a free fireboat.
If you miss out on this freebie, don’t worry. With enough matches, any boat can become a fireboat!
Celebrate National Fire Safety Month in our hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a model fireboat to put out shoreline or shipboard fires and transport emergency personnel and rescue workers. Once your firefighting vessel construction is complete, you and your hero can decorate it with paint and stickers and give it a name like the historically famous fireboats that precede your new firefighting craft.
These workshops run from 9am-noon and are aimed at kids aged 5-12, though the age range is simply a guide instead of a strict rule. I can also confirm grown adults aged over 30 sometimes have trouble helping their little brother because I’m terrible with tools.
There are only a limited number of spaces available, so you need to register online ahead of time! Find your store, then scroll down and register under “Bookworm Bookends.” When I used to take my little brother, they didn’t enforce a strict arrival time. We would often show up around 10am and have plenty of time to get the project finished before noon!
In addition to the free bookend set, children receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
