When it comes to choosing music for my workouts, I select a genre based on my mood and whatever result I’m trying to create. For instance, if it’s a high-intensity interval training workout, I want something very upbeat. I like pop songs and some house electric with it to keep the momentum up and the energy high — like I almost want to feel the urge to dance in between each set.
On the flip side, for something like a yoga flow, I gravitate toward low-energy music that relaxes my breath and makes me feel calm. That’s especially true when I’m working on my mobility and getting into my breath — I’m all about calming, almost meditative music. But then sometimes I do like going to those yoga classes where there’s hip-hop music playing between each flow. It really just depends on my mood and my goals for that day.
